Career and Expertise

Since 2014, I have served as a faculty member in academic psychiatry and hold ongoing appointments at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Tulane University, and the University of Cincinnati. Throughout my career, I have provided clinical treatment, training, consultation services, and medical and administrative leadership in many different settings including state forensic hospitals, children’s hospitals, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, Veterans Affairs medical centers, jails, juvenile detention centers, prisons, schools, intensive outpatient programs, community mental health centers, integrated care clinics, civil and criminal courts, private practice, and Medicaid administration. I have been qualified as an expert in psychiatry to testify in court more than 500 times and have provided testimony in civil, criminal, family, juvenile, and federal court proceedings.
